I auditioned in Montreal this year and for the 5th time too. I couldn't make it to Ottawa this year because of that wicked snow storm, plus I wasn't prepared yet anyway. Luckily Montreal is almost the same distance as Ottawa is from where I live. I have been auditioning for Idol since 2003 but I have never made it past the first round before. The 3rd round is the celebrity judges and the 1st and 2nd rounds are in front of the executive producers. I am very happy to have made it to the celebrity judges. My goal after all these years was to just get past the first round but I did much better than that. For most of my life my voice has just been average but it finally became really good last year but like all the other girls in my group when I auditioned in Ottawa last year we were told that there was nothing special about us. One girl who sang something from a musical I think and got to stay after we had to leave. So I took from that experience and the advice that I received from that judge and I did something completely different this year from all my other auditions in the past. Instead of just standing there and singing, I sang a song that I wrote instead of a cover song and did some dancing to it too. The song is called "Melalicious" and I wrote it last year in Sept. 2007 while still working my summer job at Upper Canada Village. I had written another one before it about one of my co-workers as a joke and then his wife requested that I write another which turned out to be "Melalicious". It's a sexy song and holds the record too for being the fasted song that I ever wrote in just under 2 hours since I had to sing it that very day because Kelsye's boyfriend was coming up from Detroit.
I really don't have a sexy side or I keep it hidden all the time since I am not comfortable with that sort of thing. I just let it come out one last time for Canadian Idol and it's gone again for good I hope.
I did get rejected and got no golden ticket for Toronto but I was never sad and was super happy the entire time for making it so far. It was fun meeting the judges again. I had met them all once before, except for Sass Jordon, at one of their shows in the summer 2006 after coming back from a 4-day road trip with my sister. The car broke down a few blocks away but luckily the tow truck driver was nice enough to give us a ride and we seriously made it 10 minutes before the doors closed. After the show, I got the judges autographs. As I auditioned, Jake Gold made the typical joke with my last name. Have Ouimet (we met) before? I said yes we had and told them that story and then he said that he remembered that. It was so kool that he remembered me and the judges were really nice to me. I got interviewed and recorded practicing and did the confessional booth thing. I even got bumped in front of a lot of people in the line up so it was a really cool experience. As for my second song, I sand "You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins since my mom, who was with me, told me that I could sing it really good.
I also tried out for the Last Chance Idol and video taped myself but it never ended up on the website. I plan to upload it later on Youtube for everyone to see. I would like to get people's feedback on it.
I am also glad that I auditioned again. I was planning last year to be my last since I was getting tired of it but I changed my mind in January 2008 after coming up with this idea. I has always auditioned for the fun of it and never took it too seriously but I had always hoped for the best. I just really wanted to make it past the first round and I am glad that I have finally accomplished that goal and did way better than I thought I would. I wasn't expecting it to work but I am glad it did in the end. I only have 2 years left to try out and I don't know if I can top what I pulled off this year next year. I do have one idea in mind but I am unsure about it.
Anyway, look for me in the Canadian Idol 2008 season during the Montreal segment because I just might seriously really be on TV in front of million of Canadians. There is no guarantee that I will be on but they gave me a lot of attention, which I loved, so I think my chances of being on TV are really good. If anyone misses it, there might be highlights on the website but I really have no idea if there will be. Just in case, here is the web address:

OMG!!! I WAS ON CANADIAN IDOL!!! DID YOU SEE ME??? I still can't believe. Millions of Canadians saw me on TV. My dream was just to get past the first round but I did way better than that and made it on TV. Only 110 people out of 1100 who auditioned in Montreal got to audition in front of the celebrity judges and only a select few got to be on TV. Even though I never got a gold ticket to Toronto, I am very happy for getting that far after auditioning 5 times.
